I am 30 years old and I grew up in Brighton, East Sussex. I spent many years going on walks over the South Downs and discovered some great country pubs (which were especially welcome after the end of a long hike in Winter)! Walking in the countryside inspired me to work with nature which is how I originally became interested in gardening.I began at 21 as an apprentice to an all female Brighton-based landscaping company. The first year was a shock to my system and I spent many evenings trying to soak away the aches and pains in a hot bath! However, after the initial shock, the fresh air combined with an active lifestyle has become an obsession and I have never looked back since! Working with nature is a constant learning experience and as well as being a career, it is also a passion!Another recent passion is our allotment which has been in existence since we arrived in York years ago. Not only have we learnt a lot about organic vegetable cultivation, we have also saved a lot of money by growing our own. The satisfaction of eating your own produce (which incidentally, tastes much better than supermarket veg), can't be measured!
